Governments need a strong and strong army for their defense policy to protect their geographical borders to deal with enemies and the continuity of the country's political territory. The formation of active and inactive defenses is one of the measures that can guarantee a permanent, efficient and orderly army. The Sasanians - using the experiences of previous dynasties - used this rule well. Dealing with various enemies on different fronts contributed a lot to the growth and excellence of the Iranian army during the Sasanian period. Acquaintance with various war methods as well as equipping cavalry and infantry in the Sassanid period made it possible to take security and comfort from the enemy. This research aims to investigate the structure and performance of the Sassanid army in the series of wars with Muslim Arabs and its collapse. The current research method was carried out using the historical method and descriptive analytical method and the two main research questions were answered. The results of the research show that the main organization and organization of the Sassanid army was very advanced and modern. In this regard, the structure of the Sassanid army includes: types of military units of the Sassanid army, the way of fighting and military techniques and tactics of the Sassanid army, formations and battle formations on the battlefield. The weapons of the Iranian army in the age of the Sassanid Empire, commanders and military insignia were examined, which were the main criteria of the structure of the Sassanid army.
