The concept, conditions, and limitations of the Hadna contract in Imamiyyah jurisprudence

Abstract

Hadna and Mahadna are one of the political tools of Islam to establish relations with warlike infidels, which are used in the Quran, Sunnah and Islamic history to protect the interests of Islam and Muslims. In this article, the concept, criteria, conditions, and limitations of Hadna and Mahadna have been examined with reference to the verses of the Holy Quran and the expressions of the great Shia jurists, as well as some history, especially the events of the beginning of Islam. Also, examples of Hadna and Mahadna or similar contracts have been analyzed in the era of the Prophet (pbuh), Imams (pbuh) and Wali Faqih. At the end, the role of Hadna and Mahadna in the establishment and maintenance of the Islamic system, as well as suggestions for other research, are discussed. This article shows that Hadna and Mahadna are smart and effective strategies to deal with the challenges and opportunities of Islamic foreign policy, which should be selected and implemented according to the appropriate time and place situations.
