Undoubtedly, war and peace is part of the fundamental nature of strategic studies in international relations. But in the meantime, along with the changes and transformations that have taken place in the international arena, the nature of war has also changed in form and substance. Despite the fact that hybrid wars have flourished in the military and political literature in recent years, they are actually not a new concept. Of course, this does not mean that its nature has not been changed. The last revision of this concept, 8 indicators are considered for it, one of these indicators is war and economic sanctions. In this context, this article tries to address the main question, what is the role of American economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran in its hybrid war against Iran? The findings of this article, which were carried out in a descriptive-analytical way, show that the United States, which had imposed economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran since November 1979, by revising its approach, redefined these sanctions as a form of hybrid war and, along with other indicators of this war have used politically and militarily. In this situation, the sanctions applied in the form of U.S's hybrid war are more effective than its classic method, which requires new measures and strategies to be thought of in order to deal with it.
