One of the most important approaches of critical geopolitics is understanding the discourses function of political unit’s geopolitical actions. From the perspective of "Lakla" and "Muffe”; this geopolitical text; it has been constructed by the dominant socio-political discourse and has gained meaning and identity in distinction from other discourses. In this regard, Iraqi Baath party territorial expansion pattern under the Saddam leadership and attack on Iran in 1980 was the basis for a semantic break with monarchy geopolitical pattern in Iraq. border disputes were interpreted in the framework of discourse conflicts, which led to a full-scale war which lasted 8 years. On this basis, the intensification the territorial dispute object between Iran and Iraq in 1980 seems non-discourse based on its material definition at first sight. but, from the discourse approach, territorial dispute of the two countries has been constructed in a special context of political-historical discourse. In this research, has been attempted to investigate the Ba'ath Party elements discourse against the Shiite Islamic Revolution in Iran from the perspective of "Lakla" and "Muffe". findings show that in Saddam Hussein's rule period in Iraq with Arab nationalism becoming hegemonic a type of alienation was formed that turned the defense and expansion the Arab nation borders against the Iran became a geopolitical issue. In addition, the discourse conflict between the Baath party and the revolutionary Shiite discourse in Iran could highlight the distinction between Shiitewith the Sunni world and introduce Iraq as the guardian of Arab world eastern borders.
